How to Apply for OneKey Virtual Card: ChatGPT and OpenAI Binding Guide

OneKey is an open-source crypto wallet designed to simplify the management of digital assets. Recently, they launched a virtual card service currently in public beta. The OneKey Virtual Card (US Preferred Card) supports binding with ChatGPT/OpenAI. Below is a guide to the registration and card activation process for those interested.

Register for OneKey

Next, you will be required to complete KYC verification, confirm your email, and enter the referral code QA4U12, then click Next.

Select your region as "China", and follow the prompts to upload your ID card and fill in personal information.

Next, a video verification is required. Scan the QR code using a mobile browser, which will prompt you to record a 3-second video.

Activate OneKey Virtual Card

As of June 2023, OneKey supports virtual cards in Hong Kong and the US. Currently, only the US Preferred Card supports binding with ChatGPT/OpenAI. If you have this requirement, it is recommended to choose the US virtual card.

After selecting the card, you must top up to complete activation. USDT is generally the preferred method.

The minimum top-up amount is 30 USDT, the top-up fee is 1.95%, and the card issuance fee is $1.

After a successful top-up, new users typically need to wait 30-60 minutes for activation. Once activated, you can view card details such as the card number, which starts with 404038.

Click "Security Code" to view detailed card information. You will be prompted to add a Google Authenticator for security purposes. Follow the prompts to download and set up Google Authenticator.

About Top-Ups

Since OneKey only supports USDC and USDT top-ups, if you do not have USDT, you can purchase it via C2C on OKX (OKCoin) and transfer it to OneKey. Here is the method:

Register for an OKX account https://www.cnouyi.care/join/66773632 (Referral Code: 66773632) and complete the real-name verification on the platform (it is a large, regulated exchange).

Then, click "Buy Crypto" in the navigation bar (Quick Buy or C2C are both available; Quick Buy is recommended for beginners). You can purchase USDT using WeChat, Alipay, or bank cards.

The system will provide a seller's Alipay, WeChat, or bank card details depending on your chosen payment method. Transfer the funds and wait for the USDT to arrive. Note that for new users, the USDT may be frozen for 1-7 days (old users reportedly do not face this), after which you can transfer to OneKey.

To top up OneKey from OKX, select "Withdraw" on OKX, choose USDT, and ensure the network matches OneKey's supported network.

Notes for Binding ChatGPT/OpenAI

  • IP Address: Must be clean to avoid risk control. Try Incognito Mode + Global Proxy + Switch IP. Avoid too many failed attempts in a short time.
  • Billing Address: Must be correct. You can find a real address on Google Maps.
  • Tax-Free States: It is recommended to choose addresses in US tax-free states: Oregon, Alaska, Delaware, Montana, and New Hampshire, to avoid potential taxes.

Potential Risks

Information about OneKey is currently limited. The main domain onekey.so was registered on 2020-09-04. It is not recommended to store large amounts of money in it. Potential risks include:

  • Requires real-name verification.
  • The OneKey US Preferred Card may be risk-controlled by Stripe over time, potentially preventing binding with ChatGPT/OpenAI.
  • The company is relatively new and has low brand awareness.
