[Issue 1] Overseas VPS Network Monitoring Report

Publish: 2017-10-26 | Modify: 2017-10-26

Purchasing a VPS with good network quality is a crucial factor, but it's difficult to distinguish the difference in network quality in complex network environments. Therefore, Xiaoz Blog has set up a PHP Server Monitor locally to monitor the changes in network quality of foreign VPS. However, each user's network environment is different (e.g. mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, etc.), so the data is for reference only.

Monitoring Report

Provider Data Center Uptime Average Latency (Inaccurate) Purchase Link
Alibaba Cloud International Hong Kong (HK) 100% 45.7ms Click to purchase
Alibaba Cloud International Singapore (SG) 100% 82.7ms Click to purchase
HostUS Los Angeles (LA) KVM 99.9% 200.5ms Click to purchase
Linode Fremont 99.5% 216.2ms Click to purchase
RAKsmart US CN2 98.3% 176ms Click to purchase
Rectified Los Angeles (LA) 99.8% 211ms Click to purchase
Vultr Los Angeles (LA) 79.3% 153.3ms Click to purchase
Yecaoyun Hong Kong (HK) 99.5% 47.7ms Click to purchase

Special Note: If the uptime is less than 95%, it means there is a significant packet loss. Please consider carefully before purchasing. Since PHP Server Monitor calculates the timeout data as 0ms, VPS with a high packet loss rate may have a relatively high average latency, which is inaccurate. The uptime is relatively accurate, but the average latency of VPS with an uptime lower than 95% is not accurate (e.g. VULTR with an uptime < 95%).

Monitoring Charts

The blue color represents normal status, and the red color represents timeout. The greater the fluctuation, the more unstable the network. Click on the images below to enlarge.

Summary

  • Highest packet loss rate: Vultr Los Angeles (LA)
  • Most stable in Asia: Alibaba Cloud International Hong Kong (HK) / Singapore (SG)
  • Lowest latency in Asia: Alibaba Cloud International Hong Kong (HK)
  • Most stable in the US: RAKsmart US CN2

From the above report, it can be seen that Alibaba Cloud Hong Kong, Singapore, Yecaoyun, and RAKsmart have smaller fluctuations, while Vultr Los Angeles has had a very high packet loss rate for the past half month, and other US VPS have larger fluctuations during peak hours. Network conditions may change at any time due to carrier line adjustments, so please continue to pay attention to the latest updates.

Once again, it is worth mentioning that the above data is tested on Sichuan Telecom's network and may not represent all networks. The data is for reference only. Due to the time-consuming process of compiling the report, it will be published monthly in the future.
