Tracert (Trace Route) is a routing tracking utility used to determine the path that IP packets take to reach their destination. The Tracert command uses the IP Time to Live (TTL) field and ICMP error messages to determine the route from one host to another on a network.
Usually, we trace routes using the built-in Tracert command in the system without the need to install additional software. However, here we introduce a simpler and more convenient route tracing tool called 17monipdb. This tool is provided by ipip.net and I personally feel that its test data is more accurate in China.
So, what is the use of this tool? Simply put, suppose your website is hosted on a foreign server, you can use this tool to trace the route from your local network to any routing node that the traffic passes through to reach the foreign server. Usually, we can also use this tool to test whether the traffic from your local network to the data center network is taking a detour.
