How to Update from v1.0 to v1.1

Check Msimple Version: In the WordPress admin panel, go to Appearance - Themes, find the Msimple theme, and click Theme Details to view the current version.

Backup Your Msimple: If you have made any modifications to the Msimple files, please backup the current Msimple theme to avoid overwriting with the new version. The Msimple path is located at /sitedir/wp-content/themes/msimple.

Download Msimple v1.1

Upgrade Method: Upload Msimple.zip to your theme directory /sitedir/wp-content/themes/, then use the following command to extract and overwrite. If you are using Baota (宝塔), you can also extract directly via the file manager in the Baota panel. (Note: Please ensure you upload to the WordPress theme directory)

# Execute the following command on Linux to extract and overwrite

# Enter your theme directory
cd /xxx//wp-content/themes/
# Extract and overwrite
unzip -o Msimple.zip

If your server does not have unzip installed, execute the following command:

# CentOS
yum -y install unzip
# Debian or Ubuntu
apt-get install -y unzip

Verification: After the theme overwrite is complete, go back to the WordPress admin panel - Appearance - Themes, find the Msimple theme, and click Theme Details to verify the current version.

v1.1 New Features Explanation

Added Update Time Display on Article Pages: Articles have timeliness, and visitors may not easily determine if the content is still valid. Therefore, an update time display has been added to article pages, allowing visitors to roughly judge based on the last update time, as shown in the image below.

Added Static File CDN Option: In Theme Settings - Basic Settings, a static file CDN option has been added. After enabling this feature, some static resources (.css/.js) of Msimple will be loaded from the CDN address https://libs.xiaoz.top provided by xiaoz. Please choose to enable it yourself.

Added Article Like Functionality: On the article page, you can see a like button at the bottom. After a visitor likes an article, the button turns gray and cannot be clicked again.

Customize Article Description via Excerpt: When editing an article, you can check the Excerpt option in the Display Options at the top of the editing page.

This will add an Excerpt option at the bottom of each article editing page. Users can set the article description (description) by configuring the excerpt content. If no excerpt is set, the first 200 characters of the article will be automatically used as the description, which is more friendly for SEO.
