Aechoterm (Chinese name: Shanling) is a free, cross-terminal and file management tool developed by Yunnan Nantian Electronic Information Industry Co., Ltd. It allows users to access remote servers via SSH and SFTP protocols, transfer files between local and remote hosts, and execute commands simultaneously on multiple remote servers.

Personal Experience

The Aechoterm (Shanling) PC client is built with Electron, offering cross-platform compatibility. However, in terms of performance, it is slightly inferior to the previously recommended Windterm. Users may notice that command input is not as smooth as in Windterm, but the interface style is more minimalist, suggesting a better understanding of local user habits.

Aechoterm (Shanling) supports a quick command feature, allowing users to add frequently used commands. This function is extremely convenient and can significantly improve efficiency. If an SSH tool lacks this feature, I would not consider using it, as once you get used to it, it becomes hard to go back.

Quick Commands

Another notable feature is cloud synchronization, which allows session information, settings, and quick commands to be uploaded to a cloud server. This prevents data loss and eliminates the hassle of recreating sessions when using the software on different devices.

Cloud synchronization requires registration and login via mobile phone number or WeChat.

Cloud Sync Login

However, cloud synchronization has the following issues:

  • Account sessions are frequently lost, requiring repeated logins; it is unclear if this is a bug.
  • Quick commands cannot be synchronized on Android, though SSH session lists can be synced.
  • Cloud synchronization may pose security risks, so users should consider whether to use this feature.

Other features can be explored after downloading. I have already switched from Windterm to Aechoterm (Shanling), and it is likely to become my primary SSH client.

Other Notes

Although Aechoterm (Shanling) is a free client, its functionality is on par with some paid commercial clients, and it offers multi-platform support. However, Aechoterm (Shanling) is not open source. If you have security concerns, consider using other open-source clients.
