Recommended Foreign Domain Registrars with Free WHOIS Protection
Many people prefer registering domains abroad. Initially, I was curious why one wouldn't choose a domestic registrar, which offers affordable prices and simple operations. However, there are potential risks, such as domains being held or having their resolution stopped, rendering them unusable. A recent example is the image hosting site tietuku.com, which had its resolution stopped directly.
This article shares a few recommended foreign domain registrars.
1. Name.com
Name.com's official website looks very professional. New domain registrations or transfers can use the promo code PRIVACYPLEASE to receive one year of free WHOIS protection. Currently, xiaoz.me has been transferred to Name, though the discount on domain registration is generally average.

2. Namecheap
Namecheap is relatively affordable and frequently holds various domain promotion events. New domain registrations and transfers automatically include one year of free WHOIS protection without needing any promo code.

3. GoDaddy
GoDaddy, often referred to as "Gou Die" (Dog Daddy) by Chinese users, is extremely well-known. It now supports a Chinese interface and accepts Alipay payments, making it more convenient for domestic users. While the discounts are average, xiaoz.me was originally registered with GoDaddy.

4. NameSilo
The author has used the three registrars mentioned above, but has not yet experienced NameSilo. However, the prices are quite affordable, and user reviews are generally positive. Those interested are encouraged to give it a try.

5. Usage Tips
Most foreign domain registrars offer low prices for new registrations and transfers, often including one year of free WHOIS protection. Sometimes, transferring a domain is cheaper than renewing it. Therefore, you can register a domain at Registrar A, transfer it to Registrar B before it expires, and then to Registrar C when B is about to expire. This strategy allows you to enjoy discounted prices and continuous WHOIS protection. Am I being too "ruthless" as a buyer? Haha.
