Recently, while helping a netizen migrate their website, I encountered some issues. Previously, many of their images were named in Chinese. After the migration, unfortunately, all images with Chinese names failed to display. Upon checking in the file manager, it was found that images with Chinese names were showing as garbled text. Therefore, it is recommended that website images be named in English or Pinyin.

Disadvantages of Chinese Names:

  • Windows Server operating systems support Chinese names relatively well, while Linux support is poor.
  • Chinese characters are escaped, increasing the length, which is unfavorable for SEO.
  • Some web servers do not support the display of Chinese names.
  • Various strange phenomena may occur.

If you encounter a similar situation where images with Chinese names do not display or behave abnormally after a website migration, some IDCs suggest switching to a Windows host. However, I do not recommend this approach as it is troublesome and costly. Xiao Z's solution is to package all website images and upload them completely to Qiniu without changing the directory structure, then enable the Qiniu mirror plugin to resolve the issue of images with Chinese names not displaying.
