General Notes

I will place the notes at the forefront; these notes are universal and must be noted when paying for OpenAI/ChatGPT:

• Name: It is recommended to use the pinyin of your real name (for example: ZHANG SAN)
• Clean internet access nodes (unclean nodes will be at risk of being blocked and unable to pay)
• Billing address: It is recommended to use an address from a U.S. tax-free state (can be searched via Google Maps or generated by AI), which includes: certain areas of Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon.

Using a billing address from a non-tax-free area will incur an additional tax fee!!!

Paying for ChatGPT Plus

There are currently many payment channels available for ChatGPT Plus, and the threshold is much lower than before. The methods I have learned and tried are as follows.

For Android Users

For iOS Users

• Register an Apple account in a foreign region (such as the U.S.), then install ChatGPT.
• Purchase a gift card to redeem the balance.
• Use in-app purchases to pay for ChatGPT Plus.

Paying OpenAI Bills

The above two methods can only pay for ChatGPT Plus and cannot be used to pay OpenAI bills. Currently, paying OpenAI bills still requires binding a foreign debit card. The following methods are more general and can be used to pay both OpenAI bills and ChatGPT Plus. The virtual cards (physical cards) that I have tried and can be used to pay OpenAI/ChatGPT Plus are as follows.

NobePay (Low Threshold)

The registration and usage costs are relatively low, and NobePay provides in their pinned announcement which card segments can be used to pay for OpenAI/ChatGPT.

OCBC Bank of Singapore (Medium Threshold)

This is a legitimate physical bank in Singapore. Currently, domestic users can open an account online. After opening an account, applying for an OCBC 360 Account will provide a physical debit card, which can be used to pay for OpenAI/ChatGPT.

The advantages of OCBC Bank include:

• Legal and compliant
• Provides physical cards
• The app can be used for consumption with UnionPay and Alipay in China
• Can have a Singapore bank account

The disadvantages are:

• Foreign transactions incur fees
• Exchange rates are relatively poor
• Fund deposits are not very easy

WISE (Medium Threshold)

WISE foreign accounts can open virtual and physical cards for paying OpenAI.

The advantages of WISE include:

• Powerful features, easy to operate
• Lower costs
• Provides virtual and physical cards (overseas)

The disadvantages are:

• Fund deposits are difficult (can use OCBC to activate WISE)
• There are thresholds for foreign receiving addresses
• Risk control is relatively strict

Conclusion

The above are some methods I have learned and tried. Of course, there are many other foreign virtual cards that are also usable. Due to the high thresholds of some virtual cards and potential compliance risks, along with the fact that I have not tried some virtual cards, I will not recommend them one by one here.
