Alibaba Cloud recently announced that starting at 24:00 on September 30, 2024, the free version of public DNS (such as 223.5.5.5, 223.6.6.6) will take intelligent traffic control measures for resolution requests. Public DNS will continue to provide high-quality basic recursive resolution services to the majority of free users. However, in high-concurrency resolution scenarios that pose risks to the stable operation of the system, the free traffic of public DNS may be temporarily limited based on the number of concurrent requests from a single recursive node and request source IP. The upper limit of concurrent requests is not a fixed threshold, and the specific throttling value will be adjusted in a timely manner based on network load conditions and the overall service quality of public DNS to ensure the stability and user experience of the overall service. The free version of public DNS does not guarantee service availability.

Tencent Cloud's public DNS has already started implementing speed limits. Although this speed limit has little impact on most ordinary users, it may significantly affect the user experience for special users or specific software that frequently perform DNS queries. Therefore, xiaoz has collected and compiled some public DNS options that are currently not subject to speed limits for everyone to choose from.
This selection process has a certain subjectivity. For example, xiaoz has encountered situations where the 114 DNS was hijacked to 127.0.0.1
and thus excluded it.
360 public DNS testing does not support BGP network, so it is excluded.

In previous tests, the blogger found that the public DNS services of Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud performed exceptionally well. They support EDNS and AnyCast technology, ensuring stable connections even for networks outside of China. However, with the implementation of speed limits by these two services, we have to look for alternative DNS options. Hopefully, the information collected by the blogger can help you find unlimited-speed DNS providers.
