How to Easily Set Up a Baota Panel Environment on Amazon Lightsail
Amazon Lightsail is a simplified virtual private server (VPS) service provided by Amazon Web Services. It offers pre-configured virtual server instances and a range of convenient features, allowing users to quickly create, manage, and scale server instances for applications and workloads of any size. New users can also enjoy a 3-month free trial to experience its powerful features and fully understand its value.

Baota Panel is an easy-to-use server management software that supports one-click configuration for websites, FTP, databases, and more. It provides a visual interface, making it convenient for users to quickly build and manage server environments. However, the system images provided by Amazon Lightsail do not come with Baota Panel pre-installed. This article will share how to easily install the Baota panel environment on Amazon Lightsail.

Register an Amazon Web Services Account
Before using S3 object storage, you need to register an Amazon Web Services account. You will need:
- A frequently used email address
- A common phone number
- A UnionPay/VISA/MasterCard credit card
Click the link: Amazon Web Services to go to the registration page. When registering, be sure to select the "Amazon Web Services Overseas Region." Overseas regions do not require enterprise certification.

Fill in your email and account name.

Enter the verification code sent to your email by Amazon Web Services to verify.

Continue to set your account password.

Next, fill in your contact information. Please note:
- Select "Individual" or "Business" based on your actual situation; the author selected "Individual."
- Ensure that your full name, phone number, address, and other information are filled in truthfully. Do not make up information, or it may trigger risk control measures.

Next, you need to verify using a credit card. UnionPay/VISA/MasterCard/AE credit cards are supported. Fill in the credit card, name, and address information according to your actual situation. A temporary hold of up to $1 will be made during verification, which will be refunded after successful verification.

Continue to verify your phone number.

In the final step, select "Support Plan." The author selected "Basic Support - Free."

After registration, wait for the account verification to be completed before starting to experience the free plan provided by Amazon Web Services.
Create an Amazon Lightsail Instance
Next, go to the Amazon Lightsail Console and click Create Instance.

Region: Choose based on your situation. The author selected Tokyo, Japan.

Platform: Select Linux/Unix. Switch the blueprint to OS Only and choose a system you are familiar with. If you are unsure, you can choose Debian 11.x, the same as the author.

Download the Default Key to your local machine for backup. Select Dual Stack for the network type. Choose the size according to your needs. For the first 3 months, we can use the free trial, so the author selected the 12$/month specification (anything above this specification is not free).

Finally, click Create Instance and wait a few seconds for the creation to complete.

Install Baota Panel on Amazon Lightsail
After the Amazon Lightsail instance is created, click the Terminal icon.

Once inside the terminal, the first step is to reset the root password (since we need the root user to install Baota). Use the command sudo passwd root to reset it.

After setting the root password, enter the command su - to switch to the root user.

Next, enter the command apt-get update && apt-get install -y curl to update the system software.

Copy the Baota installation command:
wget -O install.sh https://download.bt.cn/install/install_lts.sh && bash install.sh ed8484bec
During the process, there will be a prompt. Enter the letter y and press Enter to confirm, then proceed with the installation.

Wait a few minutes. After the installation is complete, you will be prompted with login information. Be sure to save this for later use.

Go to the Amazon Lightsail management page, switch to Networking >> IPv4 Firewall >> Add Rule, and add the Baota port 33269 to the firewall to allow it.

Note: The port for Baota is random after installation. Pay attention to the port number in the prompt link after installation.
Additionally, you need to allow the
443port; otherwise, you will not be able to access the website after enabling HTTPS.
Replace the Baota access address with the IPv4 address, then visit to log in.

At this point, we have successfully installed the Baota panel on Amazon Lightsail and logged in. The rest is just one-click environment installation and website building within the Baota backend.
