NetSarang, a company known for its products like Xshell, Xftp, and Xmanager, has recently released a cross-platform SSH client called PortX. Previously, their software was only available for Windows, but with PortX, it now supports Mac, Windows, and Linux. PortX can be downloaded for free and offers a range of features such as Google Drive synchronization, a clear tab-based user interface, local shell access, SSH2 support, SFTP file upload, port forwarding, keyword search, proxy forwarding, keyboard interaction, public/private key authentication, quick connection address bar, customizable appearance, and global options.
To download PortX, you can visit their official website at https://portx.online/zh/ or use the following links based on your platform:
After installing PortX on Windows, the default language is English. You can change it to Chinese by clicking on the "three dots" in the top right corner, opening Settings, selecting Language, and choosing Chinese (the change takes effect immediately without restarting the client).
On Windows, you can choose between using cmd, PowerShell, or WSL as the terminal by clicking on the arrow next to the "+" icon.
You can quickly connect to a session by entering the IP in the top input box or manually adding a session using the button on the right.
To upload files to a server, you can simply drag and drop the files into the current session window. However, if you don't close the upload progress dialog, you won't be able to enter commands in the terminal. It's unclear whether this is a bug or intentional design.
In the settings, you can sync your data to Google Drive, which is useful for most sysadmins.
If you're looking for other cross-platform SSH clients, you can check out the following tools:
If you're curious about which SSH tool I'm currently using, feel free to guess and leave a comment.
In summary, PortX has a clean and logical interface, fulfilling basic sysadmin needs. However, it lacks options for data synchronization other than Google Drive and could benefit from supporting additional methods like WebDav.
