Although Baidu Cloud Drive has always been controversial due to its speed limit, it still holds the highest market share in the domestic cloud drive market. However, with the launch of Thunder Cloud Drive and the internal testing of Aliyun Cloud Drive, the cloud drive business seems to have become lively again. Recently, Baidu Cloud Drive also launched the overseas version Dubox, which offers 1TB of free storage after registration.
The official website supports Chinese voice, and currently supports login methods such as Facebook, Google, and Apple ID, as shown in the figure below.
It is worth noting that Dubox does not allow access from Chinese IP addresses. Xiaoz tried to use Tencent Cloud's Hong Kong lightweight server but failed to access it. It should be due to inaccurate IP recognition. After switching to a US IP address, it opened normally. If you need to register Dubox, please prepare a VPN.
After registration, you can see 1024GB of storage in the lower right corner. The background interface is exactly the same as Baidu Cloud Drive, but it looks even simpler than Baidu Cloud Drive.
Dubox does not support offline downloading. The client supports Android and iOS, but currently does not have a PC client.
Xiaoz tested the upload speed, which can reach 4Mb/s, but the download speed is poor, only 100Kb/s. However, the speed may also be related to the VPN and is not absolute, so it can only be used as a reference.
Dubox is currently in the public testing phase and its functionality and client support are not as good as domestic Baidu Cloud Drive. Interested users can try it out for themselves. Personally, I think it is more reliable to purchase Microsoft 365 for foreign cloud drives. The shared subscription is only a few dozen yuan per year, and you will have 1TB of storage on OneDrive, with decent speed. Additionally, you can use the full suite of Office for free. What do you think?
