In the article "HostHatch Los Angeles Data Center, KVM Virtualization, Large Disk (with Review)," I reviewed HostHatch's large disk VPS in Los Angeles. Although HostHatch has impressive disk I/O performance, its stability is not satisfactory based on my recent usage. As a result, I decided to try UltraVPS's large disk VPS for a simple test.

Disk I/O Test

UltraVPS's Storage product line focuses on large disks, so it doesn't use SSDs. The average I/O speed during testing was 122.0 MB/s, which naturally cannot compare to SSD VPSs.

Upload & Download

The following image shows the download speed, with a peak of 56.7MB/s. This translates to approximately 400Mbps in terms of bandwidth, but the official information does not specify the exact bandwidth or whether there will be any throttling if running at full capacity for an extended period.

The following image shows the upload speed, with a peak upload speed of 19.31 Mit/s, which is inferior to the download speed.

Ping & Traceroute

The average latency for Ping testing from Sichuan Telecom is 236ms. This latency is comparable to that of the US West Coast. Please note that latency is for reference only and may vary depending on different regions and time periods.

Sichuan Telecom routes through Guangzhou and then directly to Europe. I won't provide detailed traceroute tests for other regions, but the official website offers testing IPs for those interested in conducting their own traceroute tests (details will be provided later).

UltraVPS's purchasing process is different from other providers. You need to fill out an order first, then receive a payment link via email, complete the payment, enter the review process, and finally receive the control panel and server information in another email.

Conclusion

The price of € 48.00/year mentioned above includes tax. If you choose China as the region, you can enjoy a tax exemption, reducing the price to approximately € 40, equivalent to 315 CNY. This offers great value for money.

Currently, there are very few reviews available online for UltraVPS's large disk VPS in the Netherlands. I hope this article can serve as a useful reference for those in need.
