HostUS Hong Kong VPS Review: Network Tests and Special Offers
HostUS, established in 2012, is a US-based cloud hosting provider offering 7 data centers. It specializes in virtual hosting and VPS products, known for high cost-performance ratios. Their VPS solutions utilize OpenVZ virtualization technology.
Recently, Xiaoz Blog purchased a HostUS Hong Kong node VPS and has been using it for some time with overall satisfaction. HostUS also offers Hong Kong VPS plans that are friendly to mainland China access.
1. Route Tracing
Random route tracing was conducted across three different carriers. Both China Telecom and China Unicom connect directly to Hong Kong. However, China Mobile tests showed routing through Singapore in some areas, with a small portion using China Unicom or China Telecom exit nodes. The results indicate that Telecom and Unicom perform well, while the Mobile line is less ideal.

2. Super Ping Test
According to the Super Ping tool tests, response times for Telecom, Unicom, and Mobile are all stable within 100ms.

3. Important Notes
When registering with HostUS, ensure all information is accurate to avoid being flagged as fraud by the system. HostUS supports PayPal payments, but users may encounter issues where payment cannot be processed immediately after placing an order. In such cases, submitting a support ticket to customer service is usually required.
4. Suitable Use Cases
Although HostUS Hong Kong is hosted in SoftLayer data centers, the international bandwidth is very expensive, resulting in relatively weak protection capabilities. Users are advised to regularly back up their data. It is suitable for setting up Shadowsocks, CDN nodes, or testing purposes. The minimum configuration (256MB RAM) starts at $2.95/month.
