Zdir 4 is a versatile file sharing program with advanced features such as offline downloading, network storage mounting, file preview, and WebDAV, making it particularly suitable for use on NAS devices. This article will guide you through the simple steps to install Zdir 4 on fnOS, creating your personal file sharing system to meet home entertainment collection and file sharing needs.

Setting Up Zdir on fnOS

Open Docker on the fnOS desktop, then select [Local Image >> Add Image >> Add from URL]. Enter the image address: pub.tcp.mk/helloz/zdir, and confirm.

Switch to [Container >> Add Container] and fill in the following information:

  • Select Image: Choose the just-pulled pub.tcp.mk/helloz/zdir
  • Container Name: zdir, or set your own
  • Resource Limits: Memory not less than 512MB, others can be arbitrary
  • Check Auto-start on Boot

Next, set the port and storage location:

  • The first 6080 is your access port, which can be modified
  • The second 6080 is the container port; do not modify this
  • The first column of the storage location is the Zdir installation path, which you can choose
  • The second column of the storage location is the container path: /opt/zdir/data, which is fixed and cannot be modified

If you want to mount more storage locations, click Add Path and fill in according to the following requirements:

  • For the first column path, choose any location you want. The second column container path must start with: /opt/zdir/data/public/xxx, for example: /opt/zdir/data/public/test
  • If you want to mount to a private path, the second column container path should be: /opt/zdir/data/private/xxx, for example: /opt/zdir/data/private/test

Expand the function options and check Run Container with High Privileges. If this is not checked, you will not be able to mount network disks.

Zdir 4 automatically traverses your public and private directories. Files you want to make fully public can be placed in the public directory, while files you do not want to share publicly can be placed in the private directory. You can switch between public and private modes with one click using the button in the top right corner of Zdir, keeping them separate.

Private files can also be shared individually with a password and support setting an expiration time.

You can also create a music folder and place songs in it. Zdir 4 will automatically traverse all songs in the music folder, turning Zdir into an online music player in seconds.

Zdir 4 also includes built-in offline downloading, which requires zero configuration from the user. The offline download feature supports HTTP/HTTPS and magnet links, making downloading easier.

Zdir also supports mounting third-party network storage, having already supported S3/WebDAV/SMB protocols. Through network disk mounting, you can easily integrate files from various locations into Zdir for access and management.
