RAKsmart is a company that provides services such as servers, websites, hosting, virtual machines, and cloud servers. In the article "Raksmart US VPS 35% off for a limited time, renew at the same price", they introduced their CN2 network VPS and offered a 50% discount for the first CN2 VPS. I couldn't resist and ended up buying one.

Purchase Process

The official website supports Chinese interface, enterprise QQ, and communication in Chinese through support tickets. This CN2 VPS seems to be specifically designed for Chinese users. The lowest configuration I saw for direct purchase was 1 core/512MB/20G SSD, priced at $7.69/month. The purchase process is to place an order without payment, then submit a support ticket to apply for the 50% discount. After the customer service modifies the price, you can proceed with the payment, which is equivalent to $3.85/month, which is quite affordable.

Ping Test & Route Tracing

The ping test for Sichuan Telecom shows stable latency within 200ms, with an average response time of 150ms for SuperPing. I tested it during the day, and the latency seems to be better than other US servers, but I'm not sure if it will fluctuate during other time periods.

From the route tracing, it can be seen that it connects directly to mainland China, and the exit node is indeed using the CN2 network. Please refer to "How to Determine if a VPS Line is CN2 Network" for how to identify CN2 network.

During the return test, I found that only some of the China Telecom routes used the CN2 network. After consulting the official confirmation, it was confirmed that not all routes use CN2 network for return. The official response was: CU, GTT, NTT, telia return.

Other Tests

Further testing was done using the "bench.sh" script by Qiushui Yibing. The I/O reached 430 MB/s, but the average download speed was only around 1.7MB/s. According to the information on the official website, the allocated bandwidth is 15Mbps, which indicates that it is indeed limited. It has reached the peak of 15 Mbps.

Summary

Based on the test data, it seems fairly objective at the moment. However, Xiaoz has not used RAKsmart VPS for a long time, so I am not sure about its stability. It is recommended to purchase on a monthly basis and observe. The CN2 network VPS has a speed limit of 15Mbps, which is suitable for personal use as a VPN or hosting websites.
