RAKsmart US VPS CN2 Network: First Order 50% Off Review
RAKsmart is a company providing servers, websites, hosting, virtual machines, and cloud services. In the article Raksmart US VPS Limited Time 65% Off, Renewal at Same Price, we did a preliminary introduction. Recently, we received an email notification that they launched CN2 network VPS, and the first CN2 VPS can enjoy a 50% discount. I couldn't resist and bought one.
Purchase Process

The official website supports a Chinese interface, enterprise QQ, and ticket submissions can also be communicated in Chinese. This CN2 VPS is likely specifically targeted at Chinese users. The minimum configuration seen for direct purchase is 1 Core / 512M / 20G SSD, priced at $7.69/M. The purchase process involves placing an order without payment first, then submitting a ticket to apply for a 50% discount. After the customer service modifies the price, you make the payment, equivalent to $3.85/month, which is quite affordable.
Ping Test & Route Tracing
Sichuan Telecom Ping test latency is stable within 200ms, and SuperPing average response is 150ms. I tested during the day, and compared to other US servers, the latency looks better. It is unclear if there will be fluctuations in other time periods.
From the route tracing, we can see the direct connection to the mainland. The exit node query confirms it uses the CN2 network, as shown in the screenshot below. For how to identify if the VPS line is CN2 network, please refer to: How to Determine if VPS Line is CN2 Network.
During the backhaul test, it was found that only part of the Telecom network uses the CN2 network. After consulting the official support, it was confirmed that the backhaul is not entirely CN2. The official answer is: CU, GTT, NTT, telia backhaul.
Other Tests
Using QiuShuiYiBing's bench.sh script for further testing, I/O reached 430 MB/S. However, the download speed averages about 1.7MB/S. According to the official labeling, the allocated bandwidth is 15Mbps, confirming that it is indeed speed-limited, reaching the 15 Mbps peak.
Summary
Based on the test data, the results are currently quite objective. However, since I have not used RAKsmart VPS for a long time, I am not sure about its stability. It is recommended to purchase a monthly plan first to observe. The CN2 network VPS is speed-limited to 15Mbps, suitable for individuals to build proxy servers or host websites. PS: Renewal is also 50% off.
