Public DNS servers, also known as the default DNS resolution servers of the system. DNS stands for Domain Name System, which is a domain name resolution system. Public DNS servers have advantages such as no advertisements, to some extent, preventing DNS hijacking, and not needing to change due to changes in the internet environment. However, using public DNS servers may also have risks such as slow system response, hijacking, and privacy issues.
Some ISPs have default DNS cache time that is too long, which takes a long time to take effect, and rogue behaviors such as DNS hijacking to push advertisements are deeply detested. Here, we collect and organize some common public DNS servers. You can set them according to your needs, but we do not guarantee that they are all suitable. Please choose according to your own network conditions.
Provider | IP Address | Backup IP |
---|---|---|
Tencent (DNSPOD) | 119.29.29.29 | |
Alibaba | 223.5.5.5 | 223.6.6.6 |
Baidu | 180.76.76.76 | |
8.8.8.8 | 8.8.4.4 | |

Again, the DNS services provided above do not necessarily guarantee no hijacking or advertisements. Please choose and test according to your own network. You can refer to the setup tutorial here for setting up DNS on Windows 7.
