A while ago, I registered for a forum that required multiple accounts. However, the forum limited each public IP to one registration per hour, which was too inefficient. I accidentally discovered a simple and fast method to change my public IP and wanted to share it with everyone.

Due to the scarcity of IPv4 addresses, most home users and small companies share the same public IP. The public IP is different from the local IP. A simple way to check your public IP is to open Baidu and search for "IP address" to see the public IP of your current network, as shown in the screenshot below.

To change your public IP, you need an available proxy IP. You can obtain free proxy IPs from Xici Free Proxy IP or Kuaidaili, though there are many other sources available via search engines.

Next, I will demonstrate using Internet Explorer 9. For example, if I obtain a free proxy IP of 202.106.169.142 with port 80, follow these steps:

  1. Open IE Settings > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings.
  2. Check the box for Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  3. Enter the obtained proxy IP and port.
  4. Click OK to save.

The steps are illustrated in the following screenshots:
