Last week I planned to buy a spare phone, considering that my family mainly uses Xiaomi devices, so I chose Redmi as my first choice. During the search process, I also became interested in the OnePlus ACE. In the end, I chose the Redmi Note 11T Pro and I would like to share my user experience with everyone.

Before Purchase

I planned to go to the nearby Xiaomi store to try out the Redmi Note 11T Pro before making a purchase. However, when I arrived there, the staff told me that the Redmi Note 11T Pro had been taken off the shelves and revealed that the 12T Pro would be launched soon. Since I couldn't try out this phone, I left.

Purchase

So I directly placed an order for the "Redmi Note 11T Pro" on JD.com, choosing the "12GB+256GB Midnight Black" version. The final price was less than 2000 yuan, and I could use JD Plus coupons. During the promotion, I could get it for around 1800 yuan.

The original price of this version was 2399 yuan, and it has recently been reduced a lot. It should be clearing the inventory, and it is expected to be discontinued soon.

Redmi Note 11T Pro vs. My 10s

Currently, my main phone is the Xiaomi 10s that I bought two years ago. Refer to: Talking about Xiaomi 10s. Compared with my Xiaomi 10s, the Redmi Note 11T Pro has the following shortcomings:

• Although both have dual speakers, the sound quality of the Redmi Note 11T Pro is noticeably inferior to the 10s.
• When using full-screen gestures, the touch experience of the Redmi Note 11T Pro is not as good as the 10s because the 10s has a curved screen while the Redmi Note 11T Pro has a flat screen.
• The overall feel is relatively worse. The back of the Note 11T Pro is made of plastic, while the 10s has a glass back. However, the overall feel of the Redmi Note 11T Pro is not bad, it just looks a bit cheap.
• The camera is not as good as the 10s. The Redmi Note 11T Pro's camera is said to be at the level of scanning codes. The camera of the Redmi Note 11T Pro does not support OIS optical image stabilization, but it doesn't matter for a spare phone.

Now let's talk about the advantages of the Redmi Note 11T Pro:

• It is cheaper. My 10s cost around 2800 yuan, while the Redmi Note 11T Pro is only around 1800 yuan, a difference of nearly 1000 yuan.
• It has a larger battery capacity, and the 67W fast charging is great.
• The CPU is more powerful. The Redmi Note 11T Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8100, which is stronger than the Snapdragon 870 of the Xiaomi 10s.
• It has a higher refresh rate. The Redmi Note 11T Pro supports a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz, while the Xiaomi 10s has a maximum refresh rate of 90 Hz. Originally, I didn't feel any lag on my Xiaomi 10s, but after using the 144 Hz of the Redmi Note 11T Pro, I feel that my Xiaomi 10s is a bit laggy.

System

After receiving the phone, it still comes with a bunch of pre-installed third-party apps that need to be uninstalled. The default system is MIUI 13, and it can be upgraded to MIUI 14. After receiving the phone, I upgraded it to MIUI 14 and haven't found any problems so far.

It is worth mentioning that the Redmi Note 11T Pro supports flashing the European version firmware, but it needs to be unlocked before flashing. I will consider flashing the European version firmware later if I need to.

Enabling Google Services Framework

The Redmi Note 11T Pro comes with the Google Services Framework, you just need to open "Google Core Services" in the settings.

Then install "Google Play Store" from the Xiaomi App Store.

Others

According to the smartphone performance rankings released by AnTuTu in February 2023, the Redmi Note 11T Pro ranks 62nd, indicating that the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 is quite powerful.

Conclusion

The Redmi Note 11T Pro has recently been significantly discounted, and it is clear that inventory is being cleared. If you need a spare phone, it is still worth considering buying the Redmi Note 11T Pro. If you are not in a hurry to make a purchase, you can also wait for the release of the Redmi Note 12T Pro. It is rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7+ CPU. The specific price and performance will be seen after its release on March 28th.
