GreenCloudVPS is a foreign hosting provider, often referred to by netizens as "Green Hat Cloud." While the exact founding date is unknown, they currently offer services in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, the US, and Europe. They provide various types of hosting, including storage and SSD VPS, all running on KVM virtualization.

Review Configuration

When not on promotion, GreenCloudVPS pricing is not particularly cheap. However, they run sales during holidays and have recently launched weekly specials. I purchased a machine during a weekly special with the following configuration:

  • CPU: 2 Cores
  • Memory: 4GB
  • Bandwidth: 1Gbps
  • Traffic: 500GB
  • Price: $60/year
  • Region: Japan

I used the bench.sh script for testing. The average I/O speed reached 966.3 MB/s, which is impressive, likely due to the NVMe drive.

The official page lists the bandwidth as 1Gbps, but the maximum download speed only reached 60.0MB/s. This suggests it does not fully achieve G-port speed, either due to throttling or insufficient actual bandwidth.

Supplement

The machine reviewed above was purchased during a weekly special, making it cheaper than the regular price. I originally intended to buy a Hong Kong machine, but after consulting customer service, I found that the total bandwidth for mainland China in the Hong Kong data center is only 10Mbps and is shared. Therefore, I chose the Japan data center.

Conclusion

The GreenCloudVPS Japan data center offers direct connections for Telecom and Unicom outbound routes, while Mobile routes via Hong Kong (which is acceptable). All inbound routes are direct connections for the three major ISPs. Latency may be higher during peak evening hours compared to daytime.

GreenCloudVPS offers a wide variety of VPS types and regions, with responsive online customer service. If they maintain their current routing lines long-term, they are worth considering. Those interested should keep an eye on their weekly specials.
