Recently, xiaoz planned to replace a backup phone. After comparison, I finally chose the OnePlus Ace 5 to replace my existing Redmi Note11T Pro 5G. This article briefly shares my feelings about the OnePlus Ace 5.

Configuration

Here is a brief overview of the OnePlus Ace 5 specifications. For more detailed parameters, please search online.

Parameter Value
CPU Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
Rear Main Camera 50MP
Body Weight 206g
Screen Size 6.78 inches
Screen Refresh Rate 120Hz
Battery Capacity 6415mAh
Charging Power 80W

Recently, with JD.com promotions and national subsidy discounts, I bought the base version 12+256GB. The final price was under 1.7k RMB. I personally think the cost-performance ratio is quite good.

Simple Unboxing

Since it was a national subsidy order, the JD courier required me to open the package and take photos for registration upon receipt. I don't know if other companies have this situation.

The OnePlus packaging is mainly red, including the charging cable, which I feel is a bit flashy, perhaps to cater to young people.

Metal frame + left-side three-stage physical audio switch (silent, vibration, ring). This design is quite nice; currently, among the phones I've used, only Apple has this physical button.

The OnePlus Ace 5 screen size is 6.78 inches, slightly on the large side, and the weight is 206g, feeling heavy in hand. The introduction says the backplate uses specially treated glass, but it feels like a plastic shell to me...

A black phone case is included. The case is medium soft and hard, feeling okay to touch.

Usage Experience

Pre-installed Apps

I used to think only Xiaomi phones would come with a bunch of pre-installed apps, but I didn't expect the OnePlus Ace 5's ColorOS to also come with a lot of third-party apps (need to uninstall manually after receiving). Do domestic systems all look like this now?

Ads

Like the Xiaomi system, ColorOS has built-in various ads, most of which can be turned off.

Operation Smoothness

Since it is a new phone, smoothness is naturally not an issue. I've seen many complaints online about Xiaomi system lagging. I compared it with the OnePlus Ace 5's ColorOS and didn't find obvious differences in smoothness. I will use it for a while longer to see.

Gaming

The OnePlus Ace 5 seems positioned as a gaming phone. The screen is large, heat dissipation is good, and performance is strong. However, I don't play mobile games much, so I cannot test gaming performance specifically. Interested users can search for reviews online. I personally think the OnePlus Ace 5 is good for use as a gaming phone or a backup work phone.

Unlock & Flashing

According to netizens, unlocking and flashing OnePlus phones is relatively easy now, unlike Xiaomi which requires answering exam questions. Since I don't need to flash the phone temporarily, I didn't continue to tinker with it. I will operate further if needed later.

Conclusion

For around 1.7k RMB, getting this mid-range OnePlus Ace 5 feels like good value. The overall usage experience is satisfactory, but what is unsatisfactory is that ColorOS also comes with a bunch of third-party software and built-in ads. Perhaps domestic mobile operating systems are all like this. What do you think? Welcome to leave a comment and discuss.
